could anyone tell me when venting a gas stove do I only need to use typeB vent to go through the wall and regular vent the rest of the way.

B type vent is required where ever there will be a penetration through building materials or where cold can cause condensation to form inside the pipe. Also codes are 1" clearance around b-vent, so you will need a thimble or flashing and it is 6" for single wall vent pipe. I believe this is from the national code book not just our local codes.

Because a vent needs to remain hot to vent properly you need double wall vent either outside or thru an attic.
If this stove burns coal or wood you will need triple wall vent. The clearance to combustibles is 1" for double wall and 6" for single wall.
Inside the conditioned space you may run single wall for a gas appliance. Mike

If it is coal or wood be sure to run the vent backwards so that the creosote will drip back into the wood burner and not out of the seams.
