I have a two year old Rheem Split Unit. The first summer the Fan motor on the compressor stop working. The person how installed it said that the oil in the fan leaked out. Now this summer it has done the same thing again. I can hear a HUM but compressor and fan are not running. The air handler is a Rheem and the compressor is made by Rheem But a less exspensive modal (It is a Weather King). Can someone tell me what is going on, I do not trust the person who installed it anymore, or has anyone had this problem with a Rheem unit.

if the neither the fan nor the compresser is running, and you are hearing a humming,1st check the breaker, poss. no power going to unit outside, then look at the capastor,if it is swelled up or the top is popped up,,its bad.test with a tester if not sure

If you are hearing ahum also could be the contactor is stuck and not pulling in all the way or it is in butt pitted and not making a good connection which if left unfixed could draw too many amps and blow your transformer or fuse if one is present.
