im expecting my period soon and im having this brown spotting and its does have a sort of smell and i was wondering if that is a bad thing or a good?does anyone know if its old blood? does it mean my period is not coming im so freaked out im not having sex but i am sexually active up to that please help i want to know if this is normal or not

The blood that is discharged vaginally can have an odor, but it does not usually mean infection. Infection odor usually has a fishy smell to it, sometimes so bad that you cant stand it. When it comes to infection and odor, i think you would know if you had an infection.

Brown spotting is common at the beginning, and again at the end of your period. It is just old blood. How soon are you expecting your period? :)
