Replaced programable thermostat to on/off thermostat. Fan blows but the compressor does not always come on when asked. If left in the on position it may come on. Sometimes if it is turned off and then back on the compressor will come on. It has not turned on for the last 2 days even trying off/on trick.
It is hot and humid...

thank you:confused:

You may have a faulty time delay in the outdoor unit, this sounds like it , go to your out door unit , turn off the power (breaker) and open the acess panel to the electrical componets , look for the thermostat wires coming into the unit ,if you have this time delay it will look like a small printed circuit board with the thermostat wires connected to it , you would need to bypass this time delay or replace it if it is the problem. If you have this let me know what wires go where and i can advise on how to bypass it.

We removed the time delay switch completely. My neighbor is a heat/cool union man who guided me through the procedure. Now the air works as it is supposed to work. It was a little low on coolant also.

Thank you for your expert advice.
