A friend bought a non-refundable ticket through Orbitz and is now being told he will have to pay a $130 fee to postpone his flight a few days. Any ideas on how to get out of it, or at least reduce the fee?

He's probably stuck with the fee - that's the trouble with buying a non-refundable ticket. If he can't change his travel dates to the original dates he booked, he's out of luck.

There is no way of getting out of that fee. Its the airline's way of sticking it to you. I know, it sucks, I've had to pay those fees a couple of times myself, but there's no way to get out of it :)

Now if he needed to postpone by a couple of hours, he could go on stand-by for a flight and it would not cost him anything. I know this doesn't apply here, just letting you know for future reference
