What I would do is since it was a year ago and your hairs porasity has had a chance to repair itself, I think that getting it highlighted with bleach would be fine.. i dot think that you will be able to go straight blond but after a few process' you should be fine and be able to get their.

In order to go from black to blonde, you will need to lighten your with bleach (hydrogen peroxide) and then apply a toner to achieve your desired color. Hair bleaching and toning should be left to the professionals. If you want a decent blonde shade without the brassy tones, go to a salon and have it professionally done.

I had the exact same problem! At first I put blonde highlights in my hair to lighten it, and then I went to a professional to get it bleached. I dont know any other way that would work as well, but it took about a year to get to a lighter brown.
