You wouldnt want to moisturize your hands or face with it, although it is a good product. However many brands of lotion are kinder and less messy and are easily absorbed quickly in the skin, which vaseline does not. PrettyLady Jul 9, 2007, 04:47 PM Vaseline is a semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons. This can be used on the skin, and for other purposes. Some women even use it to remove their make up. A lotion can hydrate and protect the skin. Vaseline won't absorb and creates a thin film on the skin. However, lotions will slowly absorb into the skin. Copyright ©2005-, Ask Me Help Desk
