Both vaseline and lotion are used for moisturizing.

But what is the difference between vaseline and lotion??

Which is better?

vaseline is a petroleum product and by nature is not water solluble. You wouldnt want to moisturize your hands or face with it, although it is a good product.

However many brands of lotion are kinder and less messy and are easily absorbed quickly in the skin, which vaseline does not.

Vaseline is a semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons. This can be used on the skin, and for other purposes. Some women even use it to remove their make up. A lotion can hydrate and protect the skin.

Vaseline won't absorb and creates a thin film on the skin. However, lotions will slowly absorb into the skin.
