I have a Simplicity with the 14.5 B&S 28N707 engine. It quit running today, it is getting spark and runs when gas is sprayed in the carb. I am thinking either the fuel shutoff or pump. It is putting out a small amount of fuel when it turns over. Is there a way to test what might be wrong before I start buying parts.

Remove the carb bowl, remove the spark plug wire, lift up on the float and turn the starter key. If you pump is bad you will not get any fuel. If you get fuel then the carb is not allowing enough into the engine. Probaly a good cleaning sostart by checking the needle valve and seat.
