wanting to adopt a baby girl but, the wait is making me sad. What to do?

Hi,

My husband and I wanted to adopt privately. We had an adoption that fell through in October. Well of course I have a whole wardrobe for a baby girl and a car seat and everything because, the adoption fell through the day we were suppose to take her home. We wanted to go the private route because, I seems a lot more personal. We are told to network to find a bm I have. I know they are out there but, don't know how to meet them. So I think we will also have to try in other ways to. We are gonna try through foster to adopt. I was told yesterday the paperwork alone to get us started will take about 8 months. Well I very sad today. When does the waiting end. I guess my question is how do you deal with the waiting and adoptions that fall through.. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you
Hopefully a future mommy to a baby girl,
Love,
Michelle

this doesnt have much to do with your question but i dont know if you have heard of re-borns ? they are dolls which are like babies/ children - they have soft skin and heart beats and some can wriggle and they also are the same weight as an average baby. i watched it on a tv programme last week and they were made for parents who couldnt have children or just weird people.

Thanks,

For trying to help but, I don't think that would be the same. I do believe that would be more on the creepy side if an adult had one. I am not really into dolls. I appreciate you trying to help but, I am gonna pass on that one.

Love,
Michelle

Have you seen a counselor specializing in adoption at all?

I highly recommend it. It will help you come to terms with all of the red tape, the feelings of sorrow and frustration you have, and help you to sort your feelings about the whole thing out.

Look for one SPECIALIZING in adoption, though. Too many counselors don't understand more than the basics of any side of the adoption triad.

Good luck!

I am glad you find that wierd and creepy too. I thought you were serious. When I think of an adult having one of those I picture a horror movie. You know where there is a crazy character in it and she thinks her dolls are real. I guess a child would like it. I think if my husband and I had seen what you are talking about if they were trying to sell them for grown ups, my husband and I would rolling. That really sounds like it has to be a joke. Oh well have a good day. Thanks for the laugh.

Michelle
