I want my son back! I was in jail when he was adopted and had no idea it happened!
I was in jail when my son was adopted, non-violent crime). I had NO IDEA that I even had a son until recently. I believe his mother put "unknown" as father on the birth certificate. I want to fight for him. I want to be his father. I never would have agreed to give him up. My family would have gladly taken care of him. I know I can be a good dad and can't live without knowing my own son. Help!! What can I do? I have tried looking online to find adoption reversal cases, but have had no luck. Thanks in advance for any info or advice that can be given.

First off... how long ago was this?

That's the most important question, here. If it was more than a couple months, you're probably out of luck, and the best you'll get is to have some contact with your son through an open adoption. The courts will always look at what is in the best interest of the CHILD.

I really think that birthfathers should be able to go after birthmoms for lying in court like that, but I don't think it's possible.

My son is 8 now. I know my chances are slim, but I can't go down without a fight. He is my only child and I have to try. I have my act together and can provide for him now. It's worth a shot, right?
    Thanks for your comment.

Talk to a lawyer. Your odds are so low it's not even funny.

The adoptive parents ARE his parents now.

You may, however, be able to be a part of his life through open adoption, but the chances of you getting him back are next to nil.

When you're talking to the lawyer, see if you can pursue any reprecussions against the birthmother, if for nothing else than perjury.

I just want to be in his life and want him to know that I do love him. I want what is best for him. I believe that they are taking care of him, but I can't ASSUME. I need to know for sure. I will contact a lawyer. I feel like I have been robbed of my chances to know him. His mother assumed that I would never find out, I guess. But now that I know, I can't walk away from this.
    Thanks again

    Sure!

    I'm a birthmom myself--I DO understand.

Please let us know what the lawyer says, and what happens with all of it.
