How do I open sealed adoptions records from 1973 in Marquette, Michigan?

Is there a compelling medical reason to open the records?

If not, you can't. They are sealed for a reason, perhaps the request of the birth parents.

You generally cannot open sealed records. Records were sealed back then by ALL parties.

If you are trying to locate birth parents, I suggest using a reunion website, because no court unseals records without a compelling medical reason. The reason behind this is that you could seriously upset birthparents that do not WANT to be found. Perhaps they never told anyone about the birth and adoption, and revealing it could upset marriages and family dynamics, causing them to lose whatever healing they have achieved in the years since the adoption.

Seldom will you ever open sealed records, thus the reason for sealed. Is there something specific in the records you want to know or find?
