Seeking to adopt again, but this time through the State.

Hello, my husband and I are wanting to adopt again. We have a son that we adopted through open adoption. We are considering this again, but are a little put off by the cost. Now that I'm a stay-at-home mom, the money is tight and forking over up to $20K just isn't possible right now.

So, I was wondering if anyone has experience with adopting through the state? I have been on the states website (Georgia) of waiting children. It really pulls at my heart to see all of these kids in the system. We are willing to adopt up to 2 or 3 children (sibling group) with a max age of 8. Our son is 5 today and would love siblings.

Any info would be helpful! Thanks!!

Well, I tried talking to an agency today about state adoptions. I'm getting a little discouraged about the whole thing. I was told that if they do the homestudy that it is only good for the state of Georgia and that we can't seek other children from other states for a year...?!? It just makes me sad that these children are out there and the agencies that are to help them don't... I'm sure that they have potential adoptive parents call and inquire all of the time. Maybe that is why they are so cold... We are just wanting to build a bigger family and don't know where to turn. Just needed to vent... Any lawyers out there that could provide advise on routes to take? Any Social Workers?
