you will need alot more than that, have you talked to your mom and dad that adopted you, often they will have some of the orginal adoption paper work, Have you asked if thier attorneys have any available information. Is it a closed adoption ? Have you wrote a letter to be put on file at the county courthouse where your birth certificate records are sealed ( if they are sealed)

How many of the dozens of adoption web sites have you posted your info

I think they will probably be more understanding than you think. Just let them know that they are your real parents, you just want to know where you came from. And if they don't understand that, just tell them that you want to know more about your medical history and your likelihood for certain diseases....and passing them on. That was the excuse my half-sister used to get her father's info from our mother.

But remember, try not to get your hopes up too much, because it could be disappointing.

You can go to the hospitals in that county and see if they will give you last names to everyone born on your birthday with your first name in that hospital.

I would suggest getting more information from your adoptive parents then.

Start with the first one, then go to the second one, and then go.... No one told you this would be a walk in the park. There's a book available at the library or through interlibrary loan--How to find anyone anywhere. Request it for more ideas?

ChihuahuaMomma agrees: Good advice, and EXACTLY it won't be a simple process!
