    How does my boyfriend adopt my son
    Hi
    I was woundering if some one new how my boyfriend goes out adopting my son.

    Well, it is unlikely your boyfriend can adopt your son - you two are not married. Highly unlikely the courts would allow this. When you two become husband and wife, then look at the adoption. You hire an attorney. The child's biological father will need to be informed and he will need to give his permission for the adoption. There are legal avenues to follow and you must make sure that it is all done right. That is why you need an attorney.

    By marrying him FIRST, then petititoning a court for adoption.

    Your boyfriend wouldn't make it through the screening process. If he were your husband he might make it. The birth father as named on the original birth certificate would also be involved because he has legal parental rights unless he legally gave up those rights or those rights were removed in a court of law.

    First step will be to discuss adoption with a attorney and from there the 3 of you will be guided through the process. Good Luck..
