How can I adopt my Girlfriends child?

I'm 18 and my girlfriend is almost 18...she has a 1 year old by another guy... how can i adopt him and gain full legal rights along with my girlfriend/ future wife?

All other issues aside you (such as the rights of the father) you cannot adopt him until you are legally married and that marriage is stable for over a year.

The father will have to sign over his rights to adopt. You will have to show you can properly provide for the child and they will look to see how stable and long lasting relationship you have. How many years you have been together, since you are not married yet. Some states may require you be married first
