Findind adopted brother in another country

Just found out this year I have a brother in Canada , I talking from about 1948 to 1952, all details I have are very sketchy and to make things worse I lost my mum when I was very young and she only confided in 1 person who also has died but told his son beforehand but I got no idea where to start or how to go about looking in another country apart from the UK where I am from

Well what type of info do you have, names, possible names, was he adopted ??

All i have is the area off Canada that she was in ,, close to Montreal and thats all .. i never knew anything till about a few weeks ago and no family on her side left alive so i feel as if i against a brick wall right now
