helpless and hopeless

i recently loss my parents i am in my mid forties .i cannot get out of this downward slide i am abusing precrip drugs food and alcohol i feel like theirs no tomorrow everybody says ill snap out of it but its been 7months helpppp me

hiker, you had better get your act together and soon if there are other people in your life who need you. I know its hard losing someone you love indefinitely but it happens and there is absolutely nothing you can do that will bring them back.

Think of it this way. Would your mom like to see you as you are now ? Would she be proud of what you have become ? Answer these questions and believe that you are not respecting their memory the way you are now.

We use drugs, food, sleep or whatever to avoid feeling how we are feeling. Your parents are gone. Your sadness is genuine. You need to quit hiding from the feelings and cry. Feel it, and it will pass.
