Well Theres this website called Habbo ~ Welcome to Habbo Hotel Canada and i cant seem to get off of it im just addicted to it, i wouldnt say its really an addiction but its like im stuck to it its horrible and i dont know how to quit and i really want to but i just enjoy it so much and i know i shouldnt go on it anymore because im starting to fail in school but i really need some advice on how to quit please help!

What do you call an addiction? Does not have to be gambling or porn or food - it is anything that controls your life, not vice versa.

If you cannot manage your time online wisely, then you do need some help understanding what you are doing is harmful. You already state your grades are failing. Have your parents, if you are living at home yet, remove your computer from your room and into the living room, where your usage can be monitored. In this case, if you were my child, I would help you with counseling and there would be definite rules to computer usage as well as a computer lock.

Now if you are in college, you have to regulate yourself, which you cannot do. I do recommend you seek professional help. Honestly. This is a problem that you alone cannot address successfully. Good luck to you.

Sadly the internet is addictive in my experience. My fiance hasn't had a job for longer than 1 month since we got the net about 6 months ago. He is trapped in this online games that he is into. However, he already has an addictive personality type. Casino games are just as addicting online as they are in the bar or in vegas. People give up their interactive social life in exchange for a computer social life. I have been able to maintain both. They can begin to ignore their families in some cases. Sometimes one wonders whether the computer is more important to them than you are. Talk about their day becomes overwhelmingly about what they did in this game and that game.

Don't get me wrong. The net is a great place to meet up with new people and forge friendships. This site has been great for me. I have learned a lot and been able to help people that feel alone otherwise. I've been able to recognise the regulars and am making friends too. However, I don't let it take over my life. Even now while I'm not the net, I have laundry going. LOL. exciting life for me I know, lol.

Get out there and get some friends or join a club. Get an activity outside your home and away from your computer.

The internet is an addiction. It is the same as drinking or drugs because it controls your life. I don't know if "cold turkey" ( getting rid of the computer) is the answer. I have heard that denied one addiction there will be another one to take its place, but do seek professional help.
This is not hopeless as many others face the same problem as you do.
I congratulate you on seeing your problem and reaching out for help. Do seek help outside of home as parents can not always help as much as they would like. They do have an emotional tie and I believe you need to see a professional person.

Yes I had a great working young man, he was allowed to use company computer on his breaks, He worked fairly unsupervised most of the day.
Well he got where his breaks took longer and longer and he would end up on the computer for hours at a time instead of working.

And to make it worst, he was going to porn sites. We caught him ( we track computer usage at our office) and we told him because of company policy one more porn site and we would have to fire him ( should have fired him for the first time since they sign a form saying they know this when hired)

Well within a week he was back to hours online on porn sites. And he thought we were doing him wrong when we fired him,
