I am 24yrs old and I have a problem. I am addicted to inhaling shoe polish. I do it almost everyday. At the same time I am ready to have a child but I never seem to get pregnant. Can the addition be the cause of me not getting pregnant? How long does it take for the "fumes" to come out of your body? I desperately want to stop. Please help me.
You need to stop. IF you got pregnant and continued that addiction it would most likely cause severe harm to your baby's development.
Try finding something non toxic to smell like cherry or pineapple juice or SOMETHING non toxic.
You could cause yourself brain problems like alzheimers or something I would think.
sometimes addictions can be a sign of a nutritional imbalance or something. You should check with the doctor.

quit possibly. I doubt directly but indirectly it might be a possibility
It could be shutting something down in your system like in your hormones
I am thinking like a chain reaction thing but I am just saying what would make sense
You need to go to the doc. I don't know if a fertility test would help but you need to get COMPLETELY over this first anyhow.
paraffin wax and turpentine oil, refined petroleum jelly, silicone oil, and optionally, camphor oil, silicone powder, and color inktrichloroethylene, methylene chloride, or nitrobenzene,
I am sure that, the underlined ones especially, are carcinogens that can easily be absorbed through the skin and cause who knows what all harm.
Wow, addictions of any kind are rough. No matter how hard you want to stop, it's a daily struggle and a rough road if you don't have any help. Do you feel you can talk to your doctor about this? He/she would be the best person, because they can refer to someone that deals with addictions. NH4U is right, though, you do need to deal with the addiction prior to TRYING to get pregnant. You don't want to have the stresses of pregnancy at the same time you are dealing with withdrawl symptoms. (Emotional or Physcial) It may not be causing you to not become pregnant and if it is it may not be permanent. Talk to your doctor about programs or at least a way to help you quit. At the same time ask him your questions about infertility. If you don't have insurance, look in the County pages in your phone book and see if they have a "Mental Health" Program. Those doctors have a lot of experience with addictions of all types and may be able to help you overcome yours. They can also direct you to someone that can answer fertility questions. Best of luck!
This is a very dangerous addiction, the side affects are horrendous, including coma, with sudden death as the most serious risk, It will eventually lead to liver, kidney, blood, and lung damage, as well as it's possbile to lead to deafness and blindness. I would find some help to get off this before you consider having a baby, you are putting yourself, as well as your bdoy and mind in great danger, and it would be abuse to put a baby through this.
