I know from experience that it is hard to get someone to stop an addiction when they aren't ready. I divorced my 1st husband 5 years ago. One year to the date after we divorced he called and asked if I would take him up to detox. I guess he was ready now that he had lost me and his kids. It cost me the love of my life but he is now clean and his children aren't afraid of him anymore. We are still friends and his friendship means the world to me. I asked a few months ago if we could start dating again but he says we have been apart too long and has someone else in his life now. We still talk and go to luch every once in awhile but the most important thing is... HE IS CLEAN AND THE KIDS ARE MUCH HAPPIER!! This may not be your solution but at least I know me leaving gave him life.

I am sorry Mountain, but there is truly nothing you can do. Until a person realizes that they have an addiction and are willing to get help, there is nothing a loved one can do. It is so sad, and it is a shame, but that is the nature of the addiction.

Many people go through detox 2, 3, or 4 times before they truly realize that they have a problem and are willing to do something about it.

The addiction is so strong that they will lose everything just to get that next high. It is just the nature of the beast. And the drugs are the beast.

Matt3046 agrees: Yes my ex will tell you that she can "handle cocain" would never admit that she has a problem or that she even uses drugs.

I Agree With All Of The Above Ansewers. You Should Take Their Advice And Move You And The Kids Out. It Sounds Like A Very Unhealthy Enviorment For You And The Kids. I Would'nt Want To Expose Your Children To Those Kind Of Behavoirs If I Were You. Good Luck.

If CPS (child protective services) found out about this your kid will be taken away, because it appears that you do not care. Run, don't walk away.Of course you care but these people will not look at it that way. And besides it sounds like you are acting as a codependent. If you are having problems, with this stuff, go and get yourself fixed up,
for your kids and yourself.

I couldnt of said it better myself. I was with my XBF for almost 3 years and he was a drunk and was addictid to cokecain and many other drugs. Until they hit rock bottom and lose everything to relize that they need help there is nothing you can do. but you have to get your children out of that situation. "ICE" in an extremely dangenrous drug.....and you dont want to take the chance of anything happening to your children...

From an experience I had with my ex boyfriend who was addicted to crack, I found the only way he stopped was getting locked up. That was the only way he realized he was in the wrong. It also depends on how deep of an addiction it is now. If he is too far into it then that might be the only way he could stop. Other then that you can set up a convention with you and other loved ones of his to tell him the consequences if he doesn't stop. I'm sure if you look it up on the internet you can find a hotline number for one. Good luck and I hope you can find a cure to his addiction.
