    A-1 Photography adjusting entries
I need some help on the adjusting entries if possible.

    a. adjust unearned photographic service revenue for September. Assume photographic revenue is earned evenly over the entire month. (refer to document 2)

    document 2 states

I received a check today for $6,000 from Providence Country Club to photograph events held at the club over the next 12 months.

The answer I came up with was
dr. unearned photo service revenue for 500
cr. Photo service revenue for 500

    b. expired insurance (refer to document 3)

    document 3 states

Premium statement $2400 policy coverage 12 months beginning sept. 1, 200x

The answer I came up with was
    dr. prepaid insurance 2200
    cr. Insurance expense 2200

    c. expired rent (refer to document 4)

    document 4 states

    rent 9/1/0x to 12/31/0x amount due $3600

The answer I came up with was
    dr. prepaid rent 2700
    cr. Rent expense 2700

    d. photographic supplies on hand September 30, $315.00

The answer I came up with
    dr. photographic supplies 315
    cr. Photographic supplies exp 315

    e. office supplies on hand September 30, 125

The answer I came up with
    dr. office supplies 125
    cr. Office supplies exp 125

    f. depreciation on photographic equipment for September, 400

The answer I came up with
dr. deprec. Exp - photo equipment 400
cr. Acc dep - photo equipment 400

    g. depreciation on office equipment for September, 250

The answer I came up with
dr. deprec exp - office equipment 250
cr. Acc dep - office equipment 250

    h. depreciation on vehicle for sept, 500

The answer I came up with
dr. deprec exp - vehicle 500
cr. Acc dep - vehicle 500

    I. salaries accrued on September 30, 350

The answer I came up with
    dr. salary expense 350
    cr salary payable 350

    j. accrue interest on note payable ( don't worry about this one)

The answer I came up with
    dr interest expense 100
    cr. Interest expense 100

I can not answer this since you have not provided enough information. When did you receive the $6,000 cheque?

If you received the cheque on September 1, your JE is correct.

Assumption: Year end is Sept 30, 2006. You bought the policy on Sept. 1, 2006.

    Sept. 30, 2006
    Dr. Insurance Expense 200
    Cr. Prepaid Insurance 200

    Calculation = 2,400 / 200

Note: When you bought the policy on Sept 1, your JE would have beeen:
    Dr. Prepaid Insurance 2,400
    Cr. Cash 2,400

I am not quite sure what you are asking here in terms of the dates.

Assumption: On September 1, you prepaid rent for Sept – December

Therefore, on September 30, your JE would be:
    Dr. Rent Expense 900
    Cr. Prepaid Rent 900

    Calculation = 3,600 / 4 = 900

This is also assuming that on Sept 1, your JE was
    Dr. Prepaid Rent 3,600
    Cr. Cash 3,600

    This answer is NOT correct.

You have NOT provided enough information to give you an answer.
