Recording Business Purchases

How do I handle the following situation - We purchases some of our supplies from our business. We put these items on a HOLD RECEIPT. How do I clear these receipts? I know I have to pay taxes on the items, but how do I do that and clear the receipt from Quickbooks? Any help would truly be appreciated....
