What was the beginning Inventory on July 1st?
(following information comes from July 31st adjusted trial balance)

Inventory has balance of 60,324
Purchases has balance of 39,273
Purchase Returns and Allowances has balance of 870
Purchase Discounts has balance of 311
Transportation in has balance of 482

Sales were 60,961, but there is no Cost of Goods Sold account?
Sales Returns and Allowances 2,226
Sales Discounts were 805.

I can't figure it out.
