Independence between internal & external auditors?

Is there a difference in the concept of independence between the internal and external auditors? How does this impact the job of the forensic accountant.

Yes, there is.

Make an attempt at your own homework before asking others to do your work for you.

Captain "Immature" Forest. First, there is any homework involved, this question was asked out of curiosity. And secondly, if you cannot give an "intelligent" answer please do not respond to any questions. This site is designed for "intelligent", "serious minded" individuals with questions. Your answer explained your IQ level, because evidently you cannot even comprehend what the question is asking for. I am sorry you cannot comprehend technical questions. Have a great day!

When a question looks like a homework question, smells like one, it usually is.

I do have the technical ability to answer your question, but as I said, you have to make an attempt at your own homework question first.

While I still believe this is a homework question (others have done the same thing you have done before)…

External auditors are not employees for the company. They are consultants, hired by the company to come in and look at the books/audit them.

Whereas internal auditors are employees of the company. They work 24/7 for the company and therefore the audits they do, might get lost or adjusted if management wants it. Not saying they are corrupt, but they would be more easy for management to manipulate.

Therefore, a forensic accountant would be more likely to rely on an external auditor than an internal one.
