How to book shipping charges

I need help understanding how to book entries for shipping, freight and postage. I understand that freight and postage are business expenses. Shipping products to customers is something I've never had to book before - I charge most customers for shipping costs, although we do have special offers where shipping is waved. When I pay UPS bills I am paying for general mailings, freight to show sites, and shipping charges for customers. What would be the appropriate entry?
