Changing non-inventory parts to inventory parts

Using Quickbooks 2003
Received items new to our inventory were originally entered as Non-inventory Parts. Later we found they should have been entered as Inventory Parts. Will changing this now in Quickbooks result in an automatic increase in COGS? If so, how would we handle it?
Thank you,
SD
