allowance for receivable

I want to ask about the allowance for receivable, when and how can we adjusted the allowance for receivabel with the receivable control account.

also the two methods, which the allowance for receivables(provision) and the the irrecoverable bad debts. is it possible to use both methods at same accounting period, and if the answer is yes, then how can we diffrentiate betwen the actual amount of irrecoverable debts expense and the estimated one.
