| Studying in a US university, with UK background I'm currently living in the UK (I'm American though). Going to finish my A-levels and planning to study in the US (undergraduate course/degree). So far, I'm looking at the top 20 universities (such as Brown, UCLA/SC/SB/SD) - since unfortunately, unless I get into one of those universities, my parents won't give me the $60K/yr that I'll need to pursue university education in the states (I've got a good paying job now in my dad's design firm, but I wont get paid when I go to university since I obviously wont be working).
What kind of A-Level grades would I need to be accepted into a university like Brown (or any other ivy league uni) or UCLA?
Currently I'm probably going to get AAB A-level, an extra B in a AS physics, and an A in A-level general studies (I'm not sure if they'll count this as an actual subject, since in the UK the top universities dont). I'm also very successful in the financial world (I'm the CEO of a top design firm in the UK, and yes.... my dad is the chairman of this company, so I sort of automatically got this job - oh and again, I don't get paid unless I work in the company, so all the fund's ill need in order to study in the US must be given by my parents.. and again.. they said that they'll only give it if I go to a top american universit). Im 18 (just turned 18 the day before yesterday), ive got good grades (AAB for A-levels is quite an exceptional level in the UK), rich and already have a top-grade career setout for me. I dont have any academic or sport-type 'awards', but have great achievements in the design world. So my CV would be fairly attractive.
Would you say that I'm Brown Material, or should I just stay in the UK for my university education (I will be moving to the US anyway after that)?
Does anyone here have experience in taking an undergraduate study in the US with UK A-levels..... also do I have to take an SAT exam? |
