Aaah, a sociology question. Ideal culture is what everyone in a culture wants to believe, real culture is how it really is.

Example:

Ideal - Don't have sex until you're married.
Real - Most people have it before marriage in our culture.

That was the best example I could think of off of the top of my head. If you want a better explanation, just ask, and I'll try to think of some more.
