    AC not cooling my house
    Can someone help.

The AC unit for my residence is not cooling the house. I have the unit set at 70F and the temperature gradually increases during the day to about 80F. It remains at 80F most of the night with the AC running non stop.

    What is the problem?

There is no way this problem can be solved on line because there are so many things it could be. Check your filter, this is the easiest probable cause to check, you may have to bite the bullet and call an A/C service co.

Check for a dirty furnace filter.
The outside unit could be dirty.

Other than these items you will probably need to call for professional service.

First of all: Check the temperature of the air coming out of the vents. Use a thermometer to get the temp, or just stick your hand into it and it should feel very cold. The ideal temps are from 52-60.

Dave, you would be much better off starting your own thread, you question would get more responses if you did. How do you know that ants are the problem? It sounds like to me that you may have a compressor problem. If possible, give us a little more info on what has been found so far with the system.

The Heating/Cooling company came out and took a look and they think the outside unit is too small and are going to replace it with a larger one. Would this solve the problem? Shouldn't they have to replace the copper and the blower to accommodate a larger unit?

    Thanks for the help

I would try something inside the unit such as the ''tangle foot'' used to protect trees or fly paper. Shut the outside disconnect off and turn the cooling off at the thermostat. Open the unit up and locate the capacitor. Easy to replace yourself, short the terminals, mark or note the wires on it. Remove it an take it to an electrical or HVAC supply and let them match it. Instal the new one and then create a barrier around all the electrical parts. The tangle foot should be water proof, might apply it around the outside.
