    Stick with the rice (pre-rinsed in cold water 3 times before cooking, to clear starch), because cous-cous (delicious though it is) is a cracked wheat product which will have the normal carb levels of other wheat products.

    "Couscous Grain" is a yellow granule of semolina, made from duram wheat. The calories are:

    Calories-88; carbs- 18grams, cholestrol- 0, fat- 0, Protein- 3grams, sodium- 4 grams

    Whereas "White long grain", regular unenriched cooked no salt: 1 cup

    Calories-205, carbs-44.5 grams, cholestrol -0, fat -0.4 grams, Protein- 4.3 grams sodium 2 mg

    "Brown Rice: medium grain, cooked, 1 cup;

    Calories 218, carbs-45.8grams, cholestrol 0, fat-0.3 grams protein 4.5 grams

    So of course if you want less carbs it seems the couscous has less calories and carbs then the white rice for instance. And I always advice people to choose the brown over the white rice in all situations cause white flour is is not the best choice. But its, your choice!;)

    I think couscous is healthier than rice, but it's up to you and your taste buds.
