I am in Ohio..............I think it depends on the original charges, what yor probation requirements were, if you've violated before, and if you can afford an attorney. If at all possible do not use public defender. You can usually talk to an attorney about your case, get him paid in some way, and he will arrange for you to appear in front of the judge to deal with the violation. With the attorney he may even be able to talk with the prosecutor beforehand and make what amounts to a "deal" so your punishment could be fairly light. My friend, in TX had this problem and with an attorney they gave her a second chance........of course her violation was non violent. When she violated the second time the told her she will have to serve the original sentence (for her 7 yr). Hope I helped in some way.
