There is issues in law, if you decide to have sex with him ( and that will depend on where you live)
But you can date him, if your parents and his parents are OK with it

As Chuck says, if your parents are okay with it, then it should be okay unless sex becomes involved. It doesn't matter that you are almost 15 or that he will be 17 in almost a year. What matters is that you are 14 now and he is 16 now.

There are no laws governing dating. However, you are probably under the age of consent, so any sexual activity could get him in trouble.

But a 2 year gap is not too great and the most important thing is parental approval.

Don't worry about rumors. In a couple months when you aren't showing the rumors will stop. Or talk to a counselor at school to help stop them.
