I would go back to basics with training, ignore the fact you have a doggy door and physically take the dogs outside at regular intervals, remembering to praise or reward when they potty outside.

I also have a doggy door but mine don't always use it, I look for the visual clues that they need to go outside and get up and open the back door for them. I don't know whether they forget the dog door is there or they just don't particularly like using it (they seem to have no problem using it if they spot the neighbors cat in the yard).

A sudden change in behavior could also mean something is going wrong inside.

It wouldn't hurt to have a quick Vet exam to rule anything out.

The way I trained my dogs was to take them outside in the morning noon and night. Don't let them inside until they pee or poop. Also find a toy that is only used outside so if they want it the have to go outside like I have a rope swing that I swing around and my puppy chases it around. If that doesn't work, and if the GO in the house at night, you can by a dog crate. Dogs never GO where they sleep. Also get a squirt bottle as punishment and every time s/he GOes outside praise it with a treat or something like that. Hope that helps

If I give my dogs a toy I'll be standing out there with them while it slowly gets dark all around me. Going outside to play is one thing. When it's bathroom time it's strictly business.

When they went outside to bathroom when they were puppies it was strictly business - I let them out, I waited, I praised them highly afterward (I've never rewarded with food, just lavish praise) and then we all came back inside.

The squirt bottle isn't going to work because of their short memories. They'll know they got "squirted." They just won't know why.

I do have a doggy door but I often go outside with them anyway.
