What size wire to a 200 amp panel 200 feet away
What size wire and how much for a 200amp box 200 feet away? I have a 200amp panel on a pole and want to run another box some 200 feet away to a man cave. It will house a fridge, lights, a window ac, and TV stereo. No heat as it will be wood burning stove. Gas oven and cooktop, one big 1200 sq ft room. Not using anything that needs 220 no welders. Might use an occasional skill saw or table saw but nothing fancy. Lights will be led of cfl so very low amp and watt ratings. Window unit is 10-12 seer rated.
New at this so please speak plainly :) Thanks Mike

I should say I only want to use copper wire not aluminum.

Why is that, copper is priceier? Are you planning on running 240 or just 120? I'd opt for 240 vac to make it more versatile down the road.

Assuming most of the load is 120 volts, and 50 amps, to allow for motors starting, one at a time, you would need a #1 copper, well, three, plus a #6 ground. Since your service is rated 120/240 volts, you need to continue both voltages to this new panel.

    Just bought #3/0 for $3,250.00/M and #6 at $ 570.00/M

Say #1 is $1.50 per foot, 600 feet equals $900.00 plus slack at panels, plus $114.00 for the #6.

    $1014 total for wire alone.

If aluminum is used, need a #2/0 is needed. Not sure current pricing, all you can do is shop it.

Certain insulations are conduit only , and others can be direct buried.

Probably just 120 I don't really have or use anything that requires 220
