    Duck suddenly can't walk
    Hi,
I am new here but need some help! We have two 2 month old ducklings. We have raised them from being not more than a couple of days old at the most and they have been doing really well. One was slightly older than the other and so was a bit bigger and stronger. However on Sunday morning we discovered the big one dead in the pen! There seems to be no reason for this sudden death as it was fighting fit the day before! Since the death the little one has become totally withdrawn and doesn't seem to be able to stand or walk. It appears not to be able to weight bear on its legs although it can move them. It is eating and drinking fine but we have to take the food and water to it! We have no idea what is wrong with it as it happen so suddenly. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
    Many thanks

Yeah am aware of that. I actually work for a veterinary practice but just thought I'd see if anyone had any experience of this problem! Often fellow owners can offer some very useful advice!

I've never had ducks, sorry, I really wouldn't even know where to begin.

I don't think we have a duck expert here.

You really would be better off taking the little guy to a vet.

Is it possible that they were attacked by a wild animal? It could be an injury of some sort, or disease.

Let us know how it goes and good luck.

I think there might be a wild animal near your duck's pen. You should look and see if there are any scratches on the duck. If not then it might be a disease. Can you get a picture of your duck?

Do you ever find anything out about your duck? I and having a similar issue. I have a 19 day old duck. Two died yesterday out of the blue. I took the other too the vet as soon as I noticed he couldn't walk or stand. He isn't moving or putting weight on one of his sides. The vets didn't know what was going on. I had to go to an emergency vet because not others were open and most around here don't see ducks. Wondering if yours is better and if your vet has given you any cures? Mine told me to use vitamin D. I have been researching online for hours. I can't find any answers as far as what to do! Thanks! {{email removed}}!!
