    Am I paid for when my work shuts down for one day because weather? I am Salary.
    My Work shut down for the night shift, that is what I work so they called me and said do not come in. Then I find out the next week that I was not paid for that day when it should not matter because I am on a salary. Who is in the wrong here is it my work because I should get paid no matter what because of my yearly wage? Or is it me? *** help ASAP!

    Have you went in and talked or asked HR about it first, what did they tell you ?

    Yes, they were told by my boss "use his sick pay" which should not be the case.

    No, they can't do that.
    Be careful how you approach this - you don't want to be first on the next layoff bunch.
    I'd say 'I really am due pay if you tell me not to come in, but I can work an extra shift in good weather' or something. It gets tricky with overtime and end of the year closing the books and all.

    Sometimes you have to go with the flow a little.

    Do you have a contract and is there an employee handbook with policies about your job. What does your job description say about days of work. I am salaried but when we close we have to make up the day, use a personal business day or not get paid. Here is a test question, if you are called in to work on a Saturday or Sunday are you paid extra?

    As well as your contract of employment it also depends on your location as to the over riding employment laws.
