Outside cast iron stack in PA Want to replace with PVC

I just bought a house and it was build in the 1920s. The drainage stack is outside the house and it is starting to leak. I am trying to decide if I should just patch the leaks or replace it with PVC. I am not even sure if that would work. Any suggestions as to where I should start? Thanks

I am converting a bath tub into a shower and I have to move the drain away from the wall. After cutting the cast iron pipe, I need to connect it to a PVC trap and extend it vertically for the next step. How do I do the connection? Thanks, Jalal

the plumbing in our house is from 1936.
