My mom had a Will which I had seen before she passed, However a Lady dragged(not my moms original Executrix) my mom from the hospital and convinced her too change it, and not let any of the Family see it. Everything still is 50/50 with my brother, but gave her extra ability to screw us.
From asking earlier on this site, I am supposed to Get a Lawyer to fight my moms Lawyer.
I thought her lawyer was working with us not against us.
I always felt someone in the family should have a copy(her sister or someone). Not just the Executrix and The Executrix's Lawyer. They appear to be a Professional Team and in Kahootz. I have caught them in many lies.
A reason for people NOT to see the will, is so they won't get "Bumped Off" for the Inheritance.

My parents have a will (my dad died several years back) When my dad died, none of us children (all adults) saw it. We all agree that since my mom is still living, and still has a life, everything they had, is all still hers. We did not ask questions because we all Believe what they had is now hers. *this is not legal advice.

You can only see the will if the person lets you. You are not entitled to see the will until after the person dies and you show cause that you could be in it. The attorney (if there was an attorney that drew up the will) will call everyone that needs to be a party to the will reading and let them know when and where that will take place. If the person is in their right mind they can change it up until the second before they die. That is personal information that is not up for public observation. The person can also decide not to give anything to anyone and spend every last dime they have or give it all to charity.

You are not entitled to see the will even in mentioned in it. However, it would be a good idea for heirs to know where the will is.

You've already received legal advice on this BUT the Attorney who wrote the Will was working neither for you or against you - he or she was working FOR your mother. As long as your mother appears to be in sound mind the Attorney is obligated to write the Will as requested by the client OR refuse and let the client find another Attorney.

I've posted this before - my best friend for over 30 years was quite sick for a lengthy period. I was the Executrix of her estate (she had inherited a substantial sum from her mother) and I knew exactly what she wanted done and how she wanted it done. She changed and tweeked the Will over the years but the basic things she wanted never changed.

And then she hired a new housekeeper. My friend died a month later, I went to probate the Will, a search turned up a newer Will (within a month of her death) and EVERYTHING went to the housekeeper. I fought it in Court and lost.

The Attorney and his staff testified that my friend was in her sound mind and, therefore, it was a "good" Will.

I will never, ever know what happened. I still did her eulogy and I still miss her - but I'll never know what/how the housekeeper did or said.

Sometimes that's just how it goes.
