    Toro snowblower
    Hi

Have a 3.5 HP toro snowblower Model #38182 serial 21004340 with a Tech eng.

    With electric start

The elect starter does not turn the flywheel but starter motor spins.

The gear does not seem to engauge the flywheel or at least it looks like
It is not engauged and I can put a finger on the gear and stop the gear.

Snowblower starts/runs fine with the rope recoil.

I did peek into the eng.compartment and the starter is not loose

Any ideas of what to look for/at when I remove the cover?

    Thanks

That gear is a plastic bendix that should slide candycane down a shaft and slam into the flywheel. They are cheap and easy to replace. Bendix is usually only held on by a spring clip but when you disconnect it it may fly forward since the bendix has a spring inside of it. Use OEM parts.

    Hi,
By looking at the Toro - Snow Blowers Snowthrower site and taking the Customer Care link on the upper menu and then the Manuals & Parts link in the Solutions Center, you can find the owners , parts and service manuals all available for download.
    Peace,
    Clarke
