Happened to notice yesterday that the manual is available from Deere through OwnerIQ: Product user manuals, help, forums tips and tutorials. through a link. Sign-up may be required, but is free.
From the dropdown lists choose the following. First choose Lawn & Garden, then use the "S" to go to Scotts, choose Lawn Mower and finally pick the S2048 and S2554 link. In a few moments it will give you the chance to "Get This Manual."
