I have noticed that when I close one eye at a time and look out in a room, that the room is darker when looking out of my left eye than it is when looking out of my right eye. Also, I am unable to see objects with my left eye in a dark room, that I am able to see with my right eye. I have searched the web and have found no reference to this problem. Any suggestions?

Can you decipher between green and red? This is a sign of color blindness sometimes.

But mostly from what I hear you suffer from night blindness. I would definitely see your eye doctor to have this diagnosed.

I have had the same problem for about 4-6 months. My left eye has been seeing objects darker than my right eye, and not recognizing colors as well as my right eye. The research I have done seem to have one thing in common. It's always the left eye that has the problem. Don't know why? Mine is starting to clear. My eyes are 80% back to normal. This problem started suddenly and suddenly it is going away. Unfortunately, don't know what causes it.

I just learned about Aged-related Macular Degeneration or (AMD) which has the symptoms that I have exprerienced (seeing darker in one eye, wavy vision). For more information, you can checkout Macular degeneration - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The best thing is to see a doctor however.

How do your pupils look? These are responsible for allowing different amounts of light into our eyes so problems with the cilary body (responsible for contarcting the iris) may be the cause. Do you have any other medical problems cause it could also be a side effect from something else. Best bet as always is to go see your doc.

I have had the same problem also if I am in the dark and I close my right eye I can't see a small light like on my dvd player the little light on it is darker with my left eye in the dark and I see a faint grey circle in the light also out of the left eye

I have had the same problem for several months now. Left eye sees darker than right, and I use a microscope at work and when I come up from looking at the microscope, if I am looking out of my left eye, everything looks almost black and white for a while. I went to the ophthalmologist who wants me to have an MRI of my optic nerve, sella and pituitary gland. I did a periferal vision test, where they have you look into a machine and hit a button when you see a light flash and my left eye showed areas of diminished vision in an area that was not common. It seems to be getting a little worse.

It's most likely a Lazy Eye, or Amblyopia. I was diagnosed as such and I see slightly darker out of my right eye.

Iam facing the same problem right now. All I see through my left eye is darker.. and blurr... Iam already wearing spectacles for short sight... apart from this dark vision I am also facing problem looking leftwards with my left eye. Its strainfull even while I try to close my eye-lid... is this problem serious? I have consulted the doc and was suggested to get Dilation test done to my eyes. I hope this isn't going to end up with me becoming 1-eye blind! Its really hard to work this way. I shall report my test details onc eits done... hope it helps you too

A Neuro-Ophthalmologist is the specialist you should see without delay. If you go to NANOSWEB.org and click on FIND-A-DOCTOR you can locate specialists in your area.
NANOS=North American Neuro-Ophthalmologist Society. Additionally, an Ophthalmic Electrophysiology Dept would be able to conduct tests on your rods & cones. Cones are responsible for reading & color vision; Rods detect motion and provide night vision.
During a routine eye exam, my daughter, age 12, explained that vision through her left eye alone was darker and everything had a golden, sepia hue. Her right eye vision was 'lighter" and colors brighter. The optometrist referred us to a Neuro-Ophthamologist. We now wait for the appt.
Remember: when a doctor hears hooves galloping in the distance, he assumes it's horses -- because probablity dictates his answer. However, it may be zebras. He/She may have the body of knowledge, but you have the knowledge of your body.

See a Neuro-Ophthalmologist as quickly as you can. Check NASA Area N-Scale Operating Society | Home to locate a specialist near you. If the physician is telling you it's no big deal, ask him/her what he/she would do in your position? I don't thing any physician would not see a specialist.
