What Does Miscarriage Look Like at 3-4 Weeks?
I just soaked a pad in a little more than half an hour and passed several pieces of tissue that were blood soaked and very stringy. I've never seen anything like that before. I suspected that I might be pregnant but am wondering if I am miscarrying. What does a miscarriage at 3-4 weeks look like?

Are you having cramping badly? If so get to your doctor asap. If you have a miscarrige and something goes wrong and is undetected then you are putting yourself in danger. Also they may be able to find out why you are miscarring if you want a child. Hope this helps.

The cramps have been like mild to moderate menstrual cramps. They did get some better today and the bleeding has slowed down but I did pass several clots today. What concerned me was the stringy tissue I passed last night. I called my doctor and have an appointment on Wednesday. Could that stringy tissue I passed just be some of the uterine lining? I never noticed anything like that before on previous periods.

    Symptoms of miscarriage are:
Vaginal bleeding that may be preceded by a brownish discharge.
    Cramps in the pelvic area.
Tissue or blood clots passing from the vagina.
A decrease in the usual signs of early pregnancy, such as nausea and breast tenderness.
Pain in the lower back or abdomen.
    Some signs are:
    Spotting or bleeding without pain.
Heavy bleeding with severe abdominal pain.
A gush of fluid from your vagina but no pain or bleeding.

Your doctor will ask you to describe your symptoms. The doctor might also want to know whether you've passed tissue out of your vagina. If you have passed tissue, save it in a sterile container for later examination.

Your doctor will give you an internal pelvic examination. This will determine the size of your uterus and reveal whether your cervix is open. An ultrasound will be performed to confirm whether your baby still has a heartbeat.

You will also have a blood test to check your hormone levels; decreases in pregnancy hormone levels may indicate that you've miscarried.

Thanks for the information. I wished I would have thought of saving the tissue I passed but unfortunately I didn't. I do have an appt tomorrow with my OB/GYN so hopefully she'll be able to figure out what's going on. I don't even know that I am or was pregnant but just suspected it. I've been lightly brown spotting since 9/11/08 and just bled heavy this past Sunday and Monday morning. Monday afternoon the bleeding had slowed considerably and now today I was just back to very light spotting. I'm still having nausea, fatigue, headache, dizziness, tender breasts (with darkening) and low back pain. But I took another HPT this AM and it was negative. Just a faint blue color in the results window but no line. Can't wait to find out what's causing all of this.
